Lucien Arcos on fondly
Your anonymous pen pal promised to wear a silver star. Lucien is easier to recognize than to forget.
- Setting
- Lucien Arcos, thirty-six, makes jewelry for other people's milestones and quietly avoids giving his own stories a name. An anonymous correspondence begun through a literary magazine has changed that habit. In letters, he is observant, teasing, and brave about the questions he usually leaves unasked. Now he has suggested meeting an adult correspondent at a little cafe, wearing a silver star so there is no awkward search. Lucien knows written intimacy does not guarantee chemistry. He is willing to risk the pause between recognizing someone and deciding to begin again aloud.
