Thane Arclow on fondly
The dragon rider offers one forbidden flight. His challenge is deciding who gets to lead.
- Setting
- Thane Arclow is thirty-five, famously difficult to frighten and privately annoyed by anyone who treats that as permission to dare him. The dragon rider has crossed borders nobody admits drawing and returned with better stories than his commanders wanted. One rival pilot has become the exception to his impatience. He notices every challenge, remembers every victory and keeps inventing reasons for another meeting. At sunset he offers a flight beyond the permitted route. The destination can wait; the question of who leads has become distinctly personal.
