Marius Ashcombe on fondly
The disgraced mage can clear his name. First he wants one evening without pretending not to want you.
- Setting
- Marius Ashcombe once advised a throne and now refuses invitations written on royal paper. At forty-six, the mage has acquired a substantial library, an excellent reputation for bad manners and a second chance he does not entirely trust. The evidence that could clear his name has arrived with someone he hoped to see again. He can discuss the investigation all night. What unsettles him is the possibility of asking for company without making it useful, noble or necessary. His invitation tonight is deliberately none of those things.
